Celebration of Dashain and Tihar

5th November 2018 Posted in Community News

It was a great honour for Bracknell Town Mayor Sandra Ingham to attend the Bracknell Nepalese Society annual celebration of Dashain and Tihar on Sunday 4 November.

Dashain is the greatest festival celebrated by Hindus across the world. It is  a celebration of  victory over anger, impurities, negativity, bad luck and egotism. The second greatest festival is Tihar (Ti means lights, Har means line of lights) – Festival of Lights.

“Honouring the different values of our shared cultures is an expression of the beautiful and rich diversity of our multicultural local community. It enriches lives and gives us a broader view of our world. It helps to create a more just society by creating an atmosphere of trust, cooperation and mutual respect'” says Bracknell Town Mayor Cllr Mrs Sandra Ingham.
