3rd September 2021 Posted in Community News
Bracknell Town Council are proud supporters of Merchant Navy Day and today, the 3rd September they are flying the Red Ensign above their offices in the town centre to show their support. With the help of the Royal Naval Association Bracknell Branch, the Red Ensign was hoisted to honour the brave men and women who kept the UK afloat during both World Wars and celebrate our dependence on modern-day merchant seafarers who are responsible for more than 90% of the UK’s imports.
Jackie Burgess, the Town Clerk said: “We are always thrilled to include the Royal Naval Association Bracknell Branch in our Merchant Navy Day celebrations. We are hoping that next year we can invite many more members and residents to celebrate with us and hopefully reach other members of the community who are current or former members of Naval Service personnel including relatives and supporters.”
