Bracknell Twinning Association

Bracknell originally twinned with Opladen, a town of a similar size to itself in 1973. The Opladen local authority was then taken over by Leverkusen, a town of approximately 160,000 people and the home of the Bayer Chemical Works.  Bracknell Twinning Association works with the Freundeskreis in Leverkusen to arrange regular visits to their partner towns, to facilitate exchanges between local groups, schools and sports clubs. The Association would be pleased to hear from anyone who may be able to offer accommodation to visitors from Leverkusen, and always welcomes new members.  Regular updates about exchanges and joint activities are posted on the Council’s Facebook page.

In recent years the square adjacent to the Bracknell Town Council offices has been named Leverkusen Platz and there is a Bracknell Square in Opladen.  Information boards have been placed in the squares giving a brief history of Leverkusen, of Bracknell and of Twinning.
