Local Council Award Scheme

The Local Council Award Scheme (LCAS) recognises and promotes excellent practice in town and parish councils across England. It encourages councils to develop their services, governance, and community engagement. There are three award levels:

Bronze Award – Demonstrates good governance, effective management, and basic community engagement.
Silver Award – Builds on Foundation by showing more strategic planning, robust policies, and effective community leadership.
Gold Award – Recognises councils as advanced community leaders, driving innovation and best practices.

Bracknell Town Council is currently working through the LCAS criteria in order to apply for the Silver Award.

Bracknell Town Council Water Pump in Africa

Bracknell Town Council Water Pump

Bracknell Town Council uses Aquaid to provide water coolers and fountains across our sites. In doing so, we have raised enough funding to provide a water pump in Manicaland – a province in the north eastern highlands of Zimbabwe. Although not technically an award, this is an achievement that Bracknell Town Council is very proud of.

Our Elephant Pump can easily provide up to 10,000 litres of safe drinking water per day for upwards of 300 people for decades. Elephant Pumps are built by an experienced Africa Trust team leader, with the assistance of the local community, using more readily and locally available materials. This allows for the community to repair the pump more easily should they need to, which in turn extends the life of the pump exponentially.
