Bracknell Urban Spaces Project

15th August 2023 Posted in Council News

The eight partner towns of Leverkusen in Germany are part of the Urban Spaces Project including Bracknell, and have been working together over the past two years to research the local history of the urban and cultural development of their respective towns in the years between the two World Wars 1918-39.

Funded by Erasmus+, the end product to be completed by the summer of 2023 will be an electronic educational tool in the form of a film construction kit, which will entail many film clips from all eight participating towns. The film kit, accessible to educators free of charge online, will give the educator the opportunity to create their own educational film by selecting and combining a series of 2-minute long film clips. Each film clip will be centred on one of a range of topics in each of the different towns, thereby providing the opportunity for the user to focus on any one town or to compare and contrast themes/topics during the 1920s/30s across the different European towns.

Academics from The University of Buckingham have been working with members of The Bracknell Forest Society and Bracknell Twinning Association to provide professional expertise in, and provision of, local history research and film production.

The Urban Spaces multilingual electronic film kit is now live on YouTube.
